Role Overview
As GM – Design, you will own the full design engineering function for the client's solar open access portfolio, including feasibility inputs, concept design, detailed engineering, drawings, technical specifications, BOQs, and as-built design support. You will be the technical anchor between business development, project execution, procurement, and site teams, ensuring every project is designed for constructability, performance, compliance, and cost efficiency.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can review layouts, challenge assumptions, resolve site constraints, and close design issues fast.
Key Responsibilities
Design Engineering Ownership
- Own end-to-end solar design deliverables from concept stage through IFC release and as-built closure.
- Prepare and review plant layouts, string layouts, SLDs, module mounting structure concepts, cable routing, inverter station layouts, earthing, lighting, and evacuation interface drawings.
- Ensure designs optimize yield, constructability, safety, and O&M practicality.
Connectivity, Evacuation & Compliance
- Review site data, grid connectivity conditions, evacuation requirements, electrical loadings, and utility interface constraints.
- Ensure designs comply with open access requirements, utility standards, statutory codes, and client specifications.
- Coordinate design inputs that affect DISCOM / TRANSCO / SLDC / CEIG approvals and grid synchronisation readiness.
Coordination Across Teams
- Coordinate with business development, project management, procurement, civil, electrical, and execution teams.
- Resolve design clashes, site constraints, vendor deviations, and change requests quickly.
- Support site teams with RFIs, technical clarifications, redline drawings, and design revisions.
